Jane Austen - Australian Regency Dance
Apr 23, 2021, 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM
What a charming amusement for young people this is, Mr. Darcy! There is nothing like dancing, after all. I consider it as one of the first refinements of polished societies.
(Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen).
Dance is a unique way to experience our cultural heritage - we can dance with the same movements and music which were once important aspects of community life. Capture the stories of our past in this very special event. Come dressed as an Australian Regency lady or gent - or come as you are. Please wear flat, comfortable shoes. No need to bring a partner.
An easy, fun, accessible social activity that is open to anyone; no experience is necessary and all dances will be taught. Folk dances are joyful events that turn a roomful of strangers into a roomful of smiling friends by evening's end.
Live music by Phillip's Dog, early colonial dance ensemble. Sponsored by Moreton Bay Regional Council's Healthy & Active.
