A Victorian Christmas at Wolston Farmhouse
Dec 7, 2025, 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Many of our most treasured Christmas traditions began in the Victorian era – from festive decorations to the joy of handmade gifts. This holiday season, Wolston Farmhouse invites you to experience the charm of a Victorian-style Christmas.
Inspired by Jackie French and Bruce Whatley’s beautifully illustrated picture book Queen Victoria’s Christmas, this enchanting family event brings history to life.
Explore the farmhouse adorned with traditional decorations and discover the origins of beloved Christmas customs. The kids will enjoy storytime and creative craft sessions where you can make your own Victorian-style Christmas crackers, ornaments, and cards to take home.
Celebrate the season with us and create memories steeped in history, imagination, and festive cheer.
10:30 - Storytime:
Join us for a festive reading of this delightful tale, which brings to life the traditions, charm, and surprises of Queen Victoria’s Christmas celebrations - with a few mischievous twists from the royal corgis!
Craft Session:
The Victorians popularised many of the Christmas traditions we still enjoy today and they loved decorating their homes during the festive season. Many of their decorations were homemade. After the Storytime, families can get creative with hands-on Victorian-themed Christmas crafts.
The kids will learn how to make their own Victorian-style Christmas crackers, Christmas tree ornaments, and cards.
Come dressed in your festive best or even as your favourite pet! Enjoy a fun morning of storytelling, crafting, and Christmas cheer.
